choosing the right substrate for your large format print

The substrate you choose for a large format project isn’t just a surface. Each material offers unique strengths depending on where and how your print will be displayed. Here's a quick guide to some of the most common options:

1. Vinyl Banner
Durable and weather-resistant, vinyl is perfect for outdoor signage, trade shows, and temporary promotions. Available in matte or gloss finishes and easy to roll up and transport.

2. Canvas
A textured, high-end material ideal for art reproductions, photo prints, and upscale indoor décor. Canvas adds a professional, gallery-style finish.

3. Coroplast (Corrugated Plastic)
Lightweight, cost-effective, and weatherproof, coroplast is perfect for temporary outdoor signage like real estate, event, or election signs. It’s fluted, making it easy to stake in the ground.

4. Foamcore
Smooth and lightweight with a rigid foam interior, foamcore is ideal for indoor displays, posters, and presentations. Best used for short-term applications as it can be easily dented.

5. Sintra (PVC Board)
Durable and slightly flexible, Sintra offers a smooth surface and is suitable for both indoor and outdoor use. It’s denser than foamcore and gives a more professional, polished finish.

6. Dibond (Aluminum Composite Panel)
This premium option combines two thin aluminum sheets with a solid polyethylene core. It’s incredibly rigid, weatherproof, and ideal for long-term, high-end signage or displays that demand durability and sophistication.
