file submissions: ideal vs. problematic formats - and why it matters

When it comes to printing, the quality of your final product starts with the file you submit. The ideal format? A high-resolution PDF with embedded fonts, outlined text, and bleed included. This ensures your design prints exactly as intended with crisp images, accurate colours, and proper layout.

On the other hand, submitting a low-resolution JPEG, a file with missing fonts or linked images, or an editable file that hasn’t been properly packaged (like an InDesign file with no images attached) can cause problems like pixelation, layout shifts, production delays as well as added pre-press costs.

Using an online design platform or template-based design program? Be sure to download your file as a PDF for print, with crop marks and bleed enabled if the design goes to the edge. This gives us the best possible version of your artwork and ensures your project moves smoothly through production.

Submitting print-ready files helps us maintain quality, meet deadlines, and reduce costly rework.
